Application audio
Browser, backing tracks and players as mixer strips.
How it works
When an application starts playing (the browser with a video, Spotify, a backing-track player), a strip with its name appears in the mixer. You can turn it up or down, EQ it, send it to the others or not (TX) and listen to it or not (MON), like any other channel. When the application stops playing, the strip disappears by itself after a few seconds.
Why Windows goes silent
To keep applications separate, while GangJam is open the Windows default output switches to a silent device (the virtual cable): the audio reaches the mixer and from there your outputs, just once. When you close GangJam, Windows goes back to how it was. Windows system sounds can't be heard in the meantime.
Typical uses
- Playing over a backing track: the track plays from the browser or the player and reaches both you and the others.
- Playing a song for the band without going through the microphone.
- Keeping a video tutorial's audio just for you: turn off TX on its strip.
